Open House - have a look inside!
On Saturday June 17, at DKB's head offices in Moordrecht we opened our doors to colleagues, business partners and the general public. Our Open House is an annual tradition. However, as this is a special year for us, this year's event was extra special.
Throughout the work floor 150 years of passion for skilful craftsmanship was on display. Demos, tours and an exhibition showed not only our rich history, but also the joy our work is still giving us today.
One of many highlights of the Open House was our special Anniversary Expo, featuring several never-before-seen items from the archives. Many visitors marvelled at the images and objects. The items varied from original photographs of the Holland America Line's ocean liners, the Royal Dutch yacht Piet Hein and Queen Juliana's crib to a number of handpainted drawings. Next to the historic tools, documents and photographs, contemporary materials and techniques were shown.
The free to enter competition testing knowledge of wood types produced more than a few furrowed brows.
