150 years of craftsmanship - and the story continues

Memories have the property of becoming brighter over time. The past often seems brighter, sunnier and grander than the present - with brighter colors, sweeter tastes and greater adventures. At De Klerk Binnenbouw , it's no different. We look back with pride on our rich history, full of milestones, successes and achievements. But despite a legacy that spans 150 years, we choose to look forward. Our 150th anniversary in 2023 was not only a celebration of the past, but also of the exciting future ahead.

Our story begins in Rotterdam

Born in the heart of Rotterdam, DKB grew from a local workshop to a trusted name in high-end interior construction. Rooted in craftsmanship and driven by innovation - our journey continues with every project we complete.

Where it all began

Success is often based on modest foundations. In 1873, Hendrik Hubertus de Klerk began producing and selling woven carpets and mats. The small store in Rotterdam grew into the Netherlands' largest department store for interiors and furniture and a leading name in interior design, production and project execution.

A legacy of royal craftsmanship

Over the years, De Klerk created acclaimed interiors for hotels, theaters, offices, churches and universities. In 1971, the company, now known as De Klerk Binnenbouw, completed the acquisition of the royal furniture manufacturer H.P. Mutters & Son, famous for the interiors of royal palaces, trains and airplanes. And ships!

1978 - now

From first yacht to fleet

De Klerk Binnenbouw has been a trusted partner for Feadship since 1978, contributing to the interiors of countless custom-built superyachts. It all began when Cees de Vries invited DKB to design the interior of their very first yacht - a collaboration that would lay the foundation for decades of excellence on the water.
